Many missing after boat carrying 80 passengers capsizes in Assam river

When the boat capsized, a few people managed to swim to safety.
Meanwhile, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and district administration personnel have reached the spot to rescue the missing people.

After the boat capsized in Jia Bharali river, several people are being reported to be missing. The vessel was a country-made boat that capsized in Jia Bharali river.

According to the reports, the boat was heading from Bihia Gaon near Lal Tapu to Panch Mile area in Tezpur when it got upside down on the way.
Around 70 to 80 people along with several motor bikes were onboard when the vessel capsized.
The locals were travelling to Tezpur Panch Mile for weekly market which is set up on every Thursday.
