15 year old diesel vehicles deregistered

New Delhi: In a bid to curb pollution level in the city, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung ordered to deregister all the diesel vehicles which are 15-year-old or more today. The LG directed the Delhi police and Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCD) to implement the orders with immediate effect. The national capital is engulfed under heavy smog since Diwali that is leading to serious health hazards including asthma, allergy and breathlessness. Concerning the alarming situation, the LG has also banned firecrackers in the national capital. On Monday, he put a ban on bursting of firecrackers in the city, other than “religious functions”.

As the city is reeling under crippling pollution, the authorities had taken several urgent measures to combat the situation, including temporarily shutting down schools and Badarpur thermal plant, halting construction activities and sprinkling water on roads. In the line of these orders, it has also banned any overloaded trucks and non-destined trucks to enter in the Delhi region. Along with it, all the polluting industries in the national capital territory of Delhi will be shut down.

Besides these, the LG also asked the MCD to take all possible measures to control fire in Bhalaswa and extended the halt on construction activities up to November 14.
The Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal also meeting the LG today to discuss over the alarming pollution level in the city.
