Court sends P Chidambaram to judicial custody till Nov 13

Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar has rejected Enforcement Directorate’s plea to give it another day to interrogate the former finance minister.

A Delhi court on Wednesday sent former Union Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram’s judicial custody for 14 days in connection with INX Media case.

P Chidambaram has also been allowed access to home-cooked food in Tihar jail. The court directed Tihar authorities to provide Chidambaram medicines, western toilet, security and separate cell.

The judge pulled up a lawyer for taking a photograph of Chidambaram inside the courtroom. The court confiscated his phone and asked him to issue an apology.

Chidambaram takes swipe at govt
Talking to media outside the courtroom, P Chidambaram took a swipe at the government over the EU delegation visit to Kashmir.

“Who knows? The European MEPs may be invited to attend the next session of Parliament and speak in support of the government,” Chidambaram said while being frisked back to Tihar jail. His family later tweeted the same on his behalf.
